Activities
Committees
There are about 10 committees at CSAJ, which oversee the respective Subcommittees
and Working Groups, and they are dedicated to gaining effective and specific
information, conducting studies/research projects, and other relevant activities.
An added benefit of such committee activities is the possibility of finding
new business opportunities or business partners.
Information Service
CSAJ provides member companies and the general public with timely information
on the latest trends, introduction of member companies, information on
events and seminars, and information on relevant organizations via the
website (http://www.csaj.jp/), e-mail, and other medium.
Seminars and Workshops
Experts and industry leaders provide their insights on technologies, marketing,
human resource development, operating assets, management visions, intellectual
property rights, and other pertinent topics at the seminar, gBusiness Support
Conference (BSC),h and workshops open to member companies and/or the general
public. In addition, seminars are held jointly with regional organizations
as part of CSAJfs efforts to revitalize local communities.
Venture Business Support
The gAssociate Membership (free membership for a limited term) Programh
was created in 1999, allowing CSAJ to provide multi-faceted support to
venture businesses. The gBusiness Support Conference (BSC)h launched also
in 1999 and the gAlliance Business Committeeh created in April, 2001 have
been especially well-received by venture companies. In addition, The gCSAJ
Alliance Award hwas established in March, 2004, as evaluating and commending
for tie-up results of them.
Policy Proposals to Government Office
CSAJ has played a significant role as a trade organization by listening
to the voices of member companies and gaining advice from experts on matters
which are relevant not only to the software industry but to the IT industry
of Japan as a whole, such as the growth and promotion of the industry,
taxation reform, or intellectual property rights protection. Such views
are compiled into policy proposals and submitted to government offices
as needed.
Studies and Research Projects
Studies and research projects are conducted by the respective committees
on common interest issues of the industry.
Face-to-Face Exchanges
CSAJ actively provides opportunities for off-line exchanges not only among
member companies and other Japanese organizations, but also with software
trade associations abroad.
Professional Visits Abroad
CSAJ organizes visits to overseas computer and software trade shows and
international conferences. In addition, there are visits to relevant companies
and study missions to investigate markets abroad.
Consulting
CSAJ provides advice to member companies on such issues as management,
corporate finance and legal matters, referring members as needed to specialists,
including tax accountants, lawyers, and patent attorneys.
Qualification Tests
CSAJ administers nation-wide the gCAD use technical expert qualification
h and the gPC Financial & Accounting Expert Test h both accredited by
CSAJ.
Trade Shows
CSAJ hosts and sponsors many events and is one of the three sponsoring
organizations of CEATEC JAPAN.
